Description

This boot camp offers an introduction to cyber security in a GC context, progressing from basic to advanced concepts. Over the course of the week, participants will learn about hacking methodologies, the Dark Web, software exploitation, attack surfaces, telecommunications vulnerabilities, wireless hacking, and a range of countermeasures. The course will also introduce GC policies, key cyber security terminology, and fundamental security architecture concepts and processes. Learning is delivered through an interactive mix of lectures, discussions, and group activities. While no Information Technology (IT) experience is required, the material and discussions will be technical in nature.

  • CYB101C - Cyber security fundamentals
  • CYB105C - Cyber security in the GC and the cybercrime landscape
  • CYB201C - Cyber security foundations for GC information systems
  • CYB202C - Cyber security in the GC and wireless communications
  • CRY101C - Cryptographic security in the GC

Objectives

  • Define the state of cyberspace and its communication protocols
  • Identify and quantify threats to operations in cyberspace
  • Apply concepts of security architecture and risk mitigation
  • Define threat actors in cyberspace along with their tools, tactics and procedures
  • Relate threats from cyber espionage and cyber warfare to vulnerabilities in the infrastructure of cyberspace

Target audience

Eligible participants at all levels who wish to become more familiar with the cyber security landscape and become knowledgeable on how to protect classified and sensitive information on GC networks
