Course 118: Cyber security in the GC and the cybercrime landscape

Description

In this workshop, you will learn about cybercrime, or computer-oriented crime, where criminals either use computers to commit crime, and/or target IT systems for exploitation. Cybercrime may threaten a person or a nation's security and financial health. We will cover what are the motivations of cyber criminals and what are the challenges to fight cybercrime. We will also take a deep dive into the tools, tactics, and methodology of cybercriminals.

Objectives

  • Categorize the cybercriminals and their tradecraft
  • Recognize the vulnerabilities commonly exploited by cybercriminals
  • Apply countermeasures to cybercriminal activities

Prerequisites

Prior to attending, it would be beneficial for participants to take course 602 - Discovering Cyber Security Cyber securityThe protection of digital information, as well as the integrity of the infrastructure housing and transmitting digital information. More specifically, cyber security includes the body of technologies, processes, practices and response and mitigation measures designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access so as to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability. .
