Description

The SKL, AN/PYQ-10(C), is the next generation of the currently fielded AN/CYZ-10 Data Transfer Device (DTD). The AN/PYQ-10(C) provides automated, secure and user-friendly methods for managing and distributing cryptographic key Cryptographic keyA numerical value used in cryptographic processes, such as encryption, decryption, signature generation, and signature verification. material, Signal Operating Instructions (SOI), and Electronic Protection data. This course introduces some of the basic components and activities associated with the AN/PYQ-10(C) in addition to hands-on training. Learners will become familiar with the security features of the SKL, practice the initial setup of the SKL, and will receive and distribute electronic keys using the SKL.

Target audience

All Government of Canada (GC) departments and their contractors, who handle, distribute, account for, store or use the SKL to store electronic keys.

Prerequisites

Prior to attending, it is highly recommended that participants have a good understanding of COMSEC COMSECCommunications security (COMSEC) is the discipline of preventing unauthorized access to telecommunications information in readable form, while still delivering the information to the intended recipients. COMSEC is comprised of multiple disciplines such as Cryptographic security, EMSEC (Emission security), Transmission security, and Physical security. principles. Course COM101C - COMSEC in the GC would provide this level of knowledge. For COMSEC Custodians and Alt Custodians, Course COM102C - COMSEC account management would provide this level of knowledge.
