The Cyber Centre is aware of recent instances where fake social media accounts purporting to represent senior government officials are being created and used to connect people online, and then to send phishing-style emails, or other malicious activities, in the name of the government official.
It is more important than ever to use a critical eye when consuming or interacting with any form of media. Social networking sites offer great benefits, but come with some risk. Below are some tips to identify things that are not real and steps you can take to help protect yourself online:
