After nine days of intensive work by our 194 participants, another edition of GeekWeek has successfully achieved its goals. On behalf of the Cyber Centre, Carleton University and the organizing team, thank you for your contribution to the success of GeekWeek V!
As you know, GeekWeek is a collaborative and innovative workshop where specialists come together to find solutions to cyber security issues. Our GeekWeek V team counted on participants to bring their ideas, creativity and expertise to the event, and we were not disappointed. The solutions and the tools developed during this workshop will benefit the entire cyber security sector. These results can only be achieved through the participation of dedicated organizations and people who understand the importance of teamwork and networking.
This year, we welcomed participants from across Canada, the U.S., and Europe, coming from a wide variety of sectors including energy, telecommunications, finance, defence, academia and all levels of government. The diversity of the participants demonstrates that cyber security has a wide reach and tackling problems with a collaborative approach, as GeekWeek does, is beneficial for everyone.
GeekWeek V made significant progress in terms of prevention, identification, analysis and mitigation of cyberattacks. Thirty-four projects were undertaken and considerable breakthroughs have been made in many areas like malware detection , botnet traffic analysis, information sharing technologies and standards, and cyber health. On October 26, the teams presented their projects and Team 1 was voted best project.
The event would not have been as successful without the support of partner organizations and participants. We hope that your involvement was valuable.
We thank you once again for your contribution to our annual event and look forward to your participation in the future editions of GeekWeek.
