CSE’s Canadian Centre for Cyber Security Cyber securityThe protection of digital information, as well as the integrity of the infrastructure housing and transmitting digital information. More specifically, cyber security includes the body of technologies, processes, practices and response and mitigation measures designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access so as to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability. (Cyber Centre) supports U.S. President Biden’s call for increased cyber security vigilance among organizations in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Recent geopolitical events have elevated the risk of cyber threats, and for several months the Cyber Centre has been urging Canadians and Canadian organizations to bolster their cyber security. The Cyber Centre has published cyber security threat bulletins reminding Canadian critical infrastructure operators to raise awareness and take mitigations against known Russian-backed cyber threat activity.

Russia has significant cyber capabilities and a demonstrated history of using them irresponsibly. We remind Canadians and Canadian organizations that cyber threats are constant, evolving, and cybercrime continues to be a prevalent threat.

We strongly encourage Canadians and Canadian organizations to follow our updated advice and guidance on Cyber.gc.ca.
