Advisory: Automated phone scams

We have recently been made aware of suspicious automated telephone calls being made to Canadian businesses claiming to be from the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security Cyber securityThe protection of digital information, as well as the integrity of the infrastructure housing and transmitting digital information. More specifically, cyber security includes the body of technologies, processes, practices and response and mitigation measures designed to protect networks, computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access so as to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability. .

Please be aware that the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security does not engage in automated telephone calls to Canadian businesses and/or citizens.

You can contact the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications (CRTC) and file a complaint; or, depending on the nature of the message, you should report any deceptive telemarketing to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or by calling 1-888-495-8501.
