Android security bulletin – February 2017

Purpose

The purpose of this advisory is to bring attention to the Android Security Bulletin for February 2017.

Assessment

The Android Security Bulletin addresses security updates for 35 vulnerabilities (8 Critical, 18 High, and 9 Moderate). The vulnerabilities that are regarded as Critical could possibly be exploited through remote code execution on affected devices using multiple methods such as email, web browsing, and MMS when processing media files.

Suggested Action

CCIRC recommends that system administrators look with their respected Android phone vendor and carrier when the update will be available and test and deploy the vendor-released updates to affected applications accordingly.
